I Guarantee It!

I Guarantee It!
Personal Promises From God

"...I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it." Matthew 16:18 (KJV)

Have you ever found yourself tempted by the enemy to doubt your ability to have a healthy and faithful Christian walk, or even to doubt your own salvation?  It is an ongoing tactic by Satan to try and cause us to lose hope, but we are not to find our hope in our own abilities, but in God's.  Jesus told the Apostle Peter, "the Gates of Hell shall not prevail against His church" (Matt. 16:18 KJV).

It is important for us to focus on this truth, as well as other scriptures giving us the confidence to face the trials and tribulations we will all face.  Notice this verse didn't say we wouldn't have any problems once we've given our lives to Christ.  It didn't make the promise of everything being really easy and smooth.  It plainly states Satan and his emissaries have already lost the war against us as Christians.   They're defeated!

Q:    So what does this mean in practical terms?

It means we can be confident in the final victory of eternal life when we leave this body and this earth.

This doesn't mean we can walk off into the sunset to solely seek the pleasures of this world.   Nor are we to become reclusive and hide away in fear of getting involved in the lives of others simply waiting for the day we will be caught up (raptured) and taken away.   Truth is we are very much still entrenched in spiritual warfare (Eph. 6:10-18; 2 Cor 10:3-5), and the cost of our fighting this war will be for us to wholly surrender our lives to the Lord so He can use us in the lives of those around us.

Then Jesus said to His disciples, "If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me.  For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it" Matthew 16:24-25 (NKJV).

We can become overwhelmed when we look at our own problems and challenges let alone other peoples, but God has called us to do just this.  He has called us to seek Him and to walk in righteousness (Matt. 6:33), and to trust in His abilities to do meet every need for us and through us. Jesus taught us to do these things for others out of love; it is an agape love from God.  It is He who does what needs to be done; we are just the vessel He uses.

"But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you" Matthew 6:33 (NKJV).

I want to encourage you to meditate upon these things today.  When we make doing God's will our desire He will then be able to use us regularly.   And when we delight in doing this He will then give us the desires of our heart (Ps. 37:4).  When we read the promises contained within God's word we need to remember each time its as if God is saying, "I Guarantee it!"

STUDY QUESTION: According to Matthew 6:33, what should we prioritize in our life?

PERSONAL INVENTORY: Are you seeking God and His righteousness in your life in every area?

APPLICATION: Let's let God do the work through us.  Let's give Him permission to lovingly speak boldly; to forgive, and to lift up those in need.

Father, thank You for Your truth and Your comfort You have given through Your Word.  I choose to seek You and to walk in Your righteousness this day, and to share with others.  Bring them into my life, and give me the words, and boldness to be what You have desired for me to be.  In Jesus' precious name, amen...

Be Blessed, Pastor Scott
