Sharing Jesus With Others

For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek. Romans 1:16 (NKJV)

If there was one thing Rome could be boastful about during the time the Apostle Paul wrote his letter to the church there it was their power—they ruled the world.  One of their most visible forms of power was their vast army—both in Rome and stationed throughout the world.

Even though Rome possessed this vast power they still weren’t capable of eradicating the rampant sin that was permeating their entire culture.  The Apostle Paul’s message claimed to be able to do something unattainable by the mightiest of men—combat and cover the sin, cure their eternal death sentence and introduce them to the One who would give them eternal life.  It was no wonder Paul was not ashamed to speak so boldly about God to this culture.

We can find ourselves becoming somewhat jaded to this message of what Jesus did upon the cross of Calvary, and apathetic to the Lord’s commandment for us—as His disciples—to share it.  I think it is so important to guard ourselves against these temptations, because many lives are at stake.

Think for a moment about the dreaded disease of cancer – more specifically about how many people will die this year because of it.  The facts show more than half a million people will perish.  Knowing this, I would like to propose a question.

Q:         If you had a cure for cancer would you be willing to share it with others?

I am sure every person reading this can easily say his or her answer would be, “Yes” to this question.  In fact, some might think this is a silly question, but it is not.  The fact of the matter is according to the C.I.A. Factbook in 2005 they estimated 56,597,034 people die each year annually.  Now I don’t know how many of these people actually have a relationship with Jesus Christ, but according to Jesus, the percentage is low.

Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.  Matthew 7:14 (NKJV)

So if we actually had a cure for cancer, and we were willing to share it so others might live a few years longer here on earth—then why wouldn’t we be willing to share Jesus Christ with everyone we could—knowing this could save their lives for all of eternity?

I want to encourage you today to ask God to give you the boldness to share Jesus with someone.  Ask God to bring them into your life and provide an opportunity to share His love with them.  When you think about it you really don’t have anything to lose, but it could be lifesaving to them.

STUDY QUESTION: According to Romans 1:16, what was the Gospel message powerful enough to accomplish when shared?

PERSONAL INVENTORY: Are you willing to share Jesus with others today?

PRACTICAL APPLICATION: Pray for God to provide an opportunity to share the love of Christ with someone today.

MAKE THIS YOUR PRAYER: Father, thank You for allowing me to personally know Jesus.  Please bring someone into my life today, and give me an opportunity to share Jesus with them. In Jesus’ precious name, amen…

Be Blessed, Pastor Scott
