Impacting The World In A Righteous Way

For we have found this man a plague, a creator of dissension among all the Jews throughout the world, and a ringleader of the sect of the Nazarenes. Acts 24:5 (NKJV)

Have you ever seen one of those movies where there is a prosecuting attorney who has been hired to bring a case against someone innocent?  Such was the case against the Apostle Paul. The High Priest and elders had hired a prosecuting attorney by the name of Tertullus, and he was accusing Paul of being a ringleader and one who incited rebellion and dissension among all the Jews throughout the world.

But Paul was not causing dissension — he was sharing the truth about Jesus Christ.  He was motivating and stimulating people to think about God’s truth, and it was causing the religious ruling party to feel convicted in their shallow legalism and religiosity.   Paul was impacting the world in a righteous way.  As I thought about this I thought about how we can impact our world as well—how it can be for God, or how it can be for the enemy.

There are some people who are choosing to impact this world for selfish and personal reasons, not caring about the damage or the impact being done because of their actions.  We can turn on the television at any moment of the day and see this truth.  Some of the things are subtle, while others are very blatant to the viewer. A quick look at Galatians 5:19-21 reveals the very script content used by most television producers to lure in their targeted audience.

Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. Galatians 5:19-21 (NKJV)

Now there are others who will impact the world for the Kingdom of God, and they will usually think about their actions and how they will affect and influence others.  They are sewing into the Spirit, and as such, they are filled with the fruit of the Spirit, which is, love, joy, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Gal. 5:22-23).

I want to encourage you today to think about how you may be able to impact the world for Christ.  Choose to look at things through this template, “I will either impact the world for God by my actions or it will be for the enemy.”

STUDY QUESTION: According to Galatians 5:19-21 what are the works of the flesh?

PERSONAL INVENTORY: Are you willing to impact the world for God today?

PRACTICAL APPLICATION:  Continue to fellowship with God and sew to His Spirit, knowing the byproduct will be a desire to do those things honoring to Him.

PRAYER FOR TODAY: Father, Thank You for Your love upon my life.  Thank You for allowing me to commune with You in prayer and worship.  Help me to impact this world for Jesus today.  I acknowledge I can do nothing apart from You.  In Jesus’ precious name, amen…

Be Blessed, Pastor Scott
