Created For Christ

“You are worthy, O Lord, To receive glory and honor and power; For You created all things, And by Your will they exist and were created.” Revelation 4:11 (NKJV)

All too often we can be tempted to believe we should have a life with few problems because of our profession of faith in Jesus.  Some might even say they are the captains of their own aircraft, and God is their co-pilot. Well, if we simply look to the truth of God’s Word we will quickly understand He is not our co-pilot. In fact, if we chose to be perfectly honest, we would abandon our own little piper cub and get on board His Jet.  We can learn these truths as we read His Word.

I think it’s important to understand we were not created to sail through life without a care and in trouble free waters, and we should also know God is not a genie in a bottle to call upon only in times of trouble — He is a living God, and He desires to have a relationship with each of us.

For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. Colossians 1:16 (NKJV)

Each of us has been fearfully and wonderfully made.  Every detail of our body has been given great attention as God doesn’t make mistakes – He has made us exactly as He purposed.  And even though He has made each of us unique He has still made us with a common but specific purpose in mind – to have a relationship with Him and to bring glory to His name.

Knowing we were created for a specific purpose should cause us to desire to fulfill the purpose we were created for, and we can do this as we choose to live for God.  We must understand though we cannot properly walk through any valley of testing, or even attempt to live for God, without His help, because He is the One who gives us the desire and provides the ability to live righteously and to have faith — apart from Him we cannot fulfill what we have been created for (John 15:5).  This should give us all the greater desire to draw near to Him daily, and to seek His guidance, love, mercy, and strength.

For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them. Ephesians 2:10 (NKJV)

STUDY QUESTION: According to the Scriptures in this devotional why did God create us?
PERSONAL INVENTORY: Is it your desire to bring Glory to God?

PRACTICAL APPLICATION:  Seek God in everything you do — allow Him to be the center of all you do. Choose to bring glory and honor unto His name.

PRAYER FOR TODAY: Father, Thank You for creating me just the way you have.   I thank You for working in my life to transform me and to change me to be more like You.  It is my desire to bring Glory to Your name. Help me to see Your will for my life in every decision.  In Jesus’ precious name, amen…

Be Blessed, Pastor Scott
